Why Integrative Physical Therapy
Why Integrative Physical Therapy
We use hands-on fascial mapping techniques to locate, treat, and heal pain and trauma in every tissue throughout the body. Our personalized assessments and in-depth sessions help patients of all ages and health histories find relief from acute pain, chronic pain, discomfort, and other physical issues.
The focus of IPT treatment is on removing mechanical strains from every tissue in the body, in order to get each part of the body working the right way. This is all done using the hands, with techniques that are in the category of “manual therapy.” Structure dictates function. This means that when any part of the body is having a functional problem (pain, decreased movement, etc,) there has to be some mechanical/anatomical issue. There is always a structure responsible for any functional issue. There are techniques for every single structure in the body, from muscle to ligament to tendon to organ. IPT is a collection of over 20,000 thousand techniques that have been shown to be effective (through clinical and published research) for individual tissues.
Throughout the process of evaluating and treating, we focus on finding the “why.” The “why” is: why is the patient in pain? Why is there still muscle spasm? Why aren’t things healing? Why is there inflammation? What is the deeper issue that is driving the current functional problem?
When you can figure out the why, you can fix the problem and often dramatically change the physical status of the patient.
